Dual-sensor (radar and visual) confirmation by multiple military crew members is a significant factor. Speed of ~1,000 mph exceeds any known 1957 aircraft capability in a non-military context and is at the edge of then-contemporary jet technology. Location is theater-level centroid for southern Gulf of Mexico. Confidence moderate due to second-hand FBI summary source.
